SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth senior Drew Brigham has been selected to the Division III Academic All-District 8 men's at-large team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Brigham, who was named First Team All-Northwest Conference for the second consecutive year this season, earned Academic All-District recognition for the second year in a row. He has a 3.94 grade point average through January term as an Engineering Physics major from Eagle, Idaho.
Playing as the No. 1 player on the Pirates' singles ladder, Brigham posted an 11-8 overall record and an 8-5 mark against NWC opponents in 2016. He also paired with Drew Adams and posted a 9-10 record as the top doubles team.
Brigham helped guide Whitworth to the NWC Tournament this season for the first time since 2012. The Pirates finished fourth in the regular season standings before falling to top-seeded Whitman in the tournament.
The Division III Academic All-District 8 consists of schools from 21 states within the Midwest and West regions of the United States, as well as Canada. Players are nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA. Eligible nominees must be a starter or important reserve with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better, and hold sophomore standing or higher.
Brigham is now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America Division III men's at-large team.
