Whitworth Men Sweep Hope 9-0

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Whitworth University men's tennis team closed out its 2016 Spring Break trip to Florida with a 9-0 win over Hope College in a non-conference match at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.

The Pirates, who have won seven of their last eight contests, improved to 8-5.  The Flying Dutchmen fell to 1-9.

Drew Brigham and Drew Adams each won twice on Friday.  Brigham and Adams paired up to defeat Andrew Klein and Michael Kiley 8-4 at #1 doubles.  Brigham the beat Kiley 6-0, 7-5 at #1 singles, while Adams topped Klein 6-3, 6-0 at #3 singles.

Blake Miller (#2), Jhun Gumboc (#4), Jeffrey Vulis (#5) and Ryan Adams (#6) all earned straight-sets wins in singles play. 

Shane Sandlin and Caleb Hughes won 8-3 at #2 doubles, while Nick Hughes and Ian Fisher teamed to win 9-8 (7-5) at #3 doubles.

The Pirates will get back into Northwest Conference play next weekend with a trip to George Fox (April 2) and Lewis & Clark (April 3).
