A veteran pole vault coach in Spokane and a retired physical education teacher, Mike Fleming is headed into his 10th season as an assistant coach at Whitworth. He has coached four Northwest Conference champions at Whitworth, including NCAA Division III All-American Everett Kleven, who cleared 16'-9". Fleming has also coached pole vault at nearby Mead HS for more than 40 years. Under his guidance, the Panthers have had six state champions and ten different athletes clear 15 feet.
