  • Title
    Volunteer Coach - Sprints/Hurdles/Multis

Michael Bedford enters his second season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Whitworth Track and Field team.

In his first season, Michael helped Solo Hines run the 5th fastest 60m in NCAA D3 history and break the 100m outdoor school record. He also was integral to helping the women’s 4x1 relay break the school record in 2023.

Michael, a four-year member of the track and field TEAM, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Whitworth University in 2022 with a B.S. in Biology. Mainly a competitor in the 400-meter hurdles, Michael qualified for the NWC championship for several years, but due to reoccurring hip injury, was unable to participate. Despite his injuries, he frequently came to practice during recovery in order to be a leader for his TEAMmates, as well as an encouraging presence.

In high school, from Bigfork, Montana, he helped lead his 4x4 team to a 6th place finish at MHSA state championship. Academically, he graduated valedictorian.

After graduating, Michael started working for Holy Family Hospital as a Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant, gaining valuable experience as he plans to apply to medical school this coming June.
