In 2019-20, Lucas McGill enters his first year on the Pirates’ track and field coaching staff, and his second year of coaching track. In his first year at Mt. Spokane High School, he helped coach Katie Rhodes to a high jump state championship, where she jumped 5' 7". At Whitworth, he will serve as the vertical jumps coach, coaching both high jump and pole vault.
McGill was a four-year letter-winner at Whitworth (2014-17), where he was a part of a three-time NWC championship men's team. During his time at Whitworth, McGill competed as a decathlete. At the NWC Championships, McGill placed top 5 (2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 5th) in the high jump all four years, and placed in the top 7 (5th, 7th) of the decathlon his junior and senior year. McGill also served as a team captain for two years.
While not at Whitworth, McGill teaches Geometry at Mt. Spokane High School.
