The 2019-2020 season will be Chase Wright's first on the Pirates' track and field coaching staff. He joins the team as assistant throws coach and will head the men’s and women’s javelin.

Wright joins the team after four seasons of coaching javelin in the Greater Spokane League (GSL), most recently at Mead High School where he coached many athletes to the district, regional, and state championship meets.

As an athlete, Wright was a four year All-Conference thrower, Northwest Conference Champion, three year national qualifier, and two time NCAA DIII All-American, including the national runner up in 2014. Chase also brought leadership to the team as a two-year captain for the Pirate men. He holds a lifetime best javelin throw of 71m (235') and finished as a USATF top 30 thrower in the country in 2016, nearly qualifying for the US Olympic Trials. Wright holds a bachelor's degree in Marketing along with an Athletic Coaching minor from Whitworth University.
