George Fox downs Pirate women 5-2

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth Pirate women's tennis team fell 5-2 to George Fox in Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Sunday morning at Scotford Tennis Center.

The Pirates (9-8) again drew even in conference play (6-6) while the Bruins moved to 14-5 overall and secured their 10th conference win (10-1).

Whitworth secured the first point of the match with two doubles wins. Faith Kert and Gracie Smyley dominated their way to a 6-0 win. Clara Todd and Jordan Turner-Esposito earned a 6-2 victory to earn the point. Audrey Judson and Olivia Corbett battled with their opponents but fell 7-6 (7-4) in the No. 3 match.

Five of six singles matches went George Fox's way. Todd fought to a tiebreaker and Kert took her opponent to a third set, but neither could come away with a win. Smyley secured the lone singles win for the Pirates with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Riley Bobkiewicz in the No. 1 position.  

The Whitworth women close the regular season with matches at Lewis & Clark on April 12th and Puget Sound on April 13th.
