Box Score

by Kelsey Segren, Sports Information Assistant

TACOMA, Wash. – Puget Sound defeated the visiting Whitworth Pirates 1-0 in Saturday's Northwest Conference women's soccer match at Baker Stadium.

Whitworth (3-4-1, 3-4-1 NWC) was shut out for its third straight match, all 1-0 losses. Puget Sound (6-3, 6-3) avoids being swept by the Pirates with the win.

A 70th-minute own goal by the Pirates was enough for Puget Sound to take the 1-0 win, despite the Loggers finishing with just one attempt on goal themselves. The Loggers finished with the lead in shots (8-6) but four of Whitworth's six were on frame.

Whitworth and UPS went into halftime tied at 0-0. The Pirates took three shots and the Loggers had two within the first 13 minutes of play, but neither side took another shot through the rest of the opening half.

The Loggers attempted five shots through the first 15 minutes of the second half, none on goal. UPS got on the scoreboard ten minutes later.

Rachel McGlothlen made one save for the Pirates, while Chaylea Tome finished with three saves for the Loggers.

Whitworth closes the season next weekend with a match at Whitman.
