Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Closes with 1-0 Win

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Kalena Pfaeltzer was in the right place at the right time for the second game in a row, and for the second game in a row her put-back goal stood up for a 1-0 Northwest Conference women's soccer win for Whitworth.  This time at Linfield University.

The Pirates finish the 2021 season 11-6-3 overall and 8-5-3 in the NWC while the Wildcats close 4-14-2, 3-12-1.

Sunday's match played out in almost identical fashion to Saturday's 1-0 win over Pacific (Ore.).  In the 19th minute, Pfaeltzer was in the right place after Linfield keeper Erin Ibister stopped a shot from Kalle Crouch, but couldn't control the ball.  Pfaeltzer put in the rebound for the match's only goal and her fourth goal of the season.

Whitworth finished with a 24-17 edge in total shots and a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal during the wide-open contest that featured good scoring opportunities for both teams.

Ibister made 11 saves for the Wildcats to keep her squad in the match.  Kate Nelson stopped all six on-target shots from Linfield to post her 10th shutout of the season.  Nelson finished the year with a 0.92 goals-against average.

Whitworth swept the season series against the Wildcats.
