Pirates, Boxers Battle to Scoreless Tie

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The visiting Whitworth women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie with the Pacific (Ore.) Boxers in Friday evening's Northwest Conference matchup.

With the draw, Whitworth moves to 2-6-1 overall and 1-3-1 in NWC play. Pacific (2-5-1, 0-4-1) is still searching for its first conference win.

The Pirates controlled the first half, outshooting the Boxers 8-3, but were unable to get by Pacific goalkeeper Saya Brown. Brown made six of her seven saves in the first half.

Both teams attempted only one shot on goal each the remainder of the match.

The Pirates took four shots in overtime but were unable to get any on target. Pacific did not attempt any shots and held on for the tie.

The Pirates led the Boxers in shots (16-7), shots on goal (7-4) and corner kicks (3-1). Jadyn Baumgartner led the Pirates with three shots, all on goal. Isabelle Arends recorded four saves.

The Pirates have the day off tomorrow before facing Linfield on Sunday at noon.
