SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth women's soccer team lost 2-0 to an undefeated Pacific Lutheran team in a Northwest Conference match on Saturday at the Whitworth Soccer Field.
Despite both teams having eight shots in the first half, the Lutes (10-0-3, 7-0-2 NWC) outshot the Pirates (5-8, 4-5 NWC) 13 to 11 on total shots and 7 to 3 in shots on goal. Leah Corra and Kelly Wucherer each had two shots for Whitworth.
Pacific Lutheran's Michaela Graddy scored her first goal of the game in the 14th minute on a hard cross from Katie Coronado who was attacking from the left end line. Graddy scored her second goal of the game in the 68th minute. Kaylie Rozell played a through ball into the middle of the box, giving her teammate a one-on-one with the Whitworth goalkeeper.
Sienna Tanner (5-5) had five saves for Whitworth. Takara Mitsui had three saves and improves her record to 10-0-3.
Next Up: The Pirates will face Northwest Conference opponent Puget Sound tomorrow at the Whitworth Soccer Field at 12:00 p.m.
