PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark scored a goal with 13 minutes left to defeat Whitworth 2-1 in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Saturday.
The Pioneers (3-6 overall, 2-3 NWC) outshot the Pirates (4-5 overall, 2-3 NWC) 9-11 on total shots including a one shot lead in each half of play. Lewis & Clark put seven shots on goal, but only two were able to make it past Pirate goalkeeper Sienna Tanner.
The first goal came from 15 yards out by Pioneer forward Caroline Hennes in the 53nd minute. Katie Bischoff then evened the score in the 73rd minute on another unassisted goal. Lewis & Clark scored the last goal of the contest when Rochelle Jordan found Lulu Adams in the box ready to finish.
Tanner (3-3-0) had seven saves for the Pirates. Lewis & Clark's Hannah Osmundson had two saves and gave up one goal to improve her record to 2-4.
