Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Tiara Pajimola scored the lone goal of the match in the 12th minute as visiting Whitworth completed a season sweep of Pacific (Ore.) with a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
Whitworth (6-8-1, 4-6-1 Northwest Conference) broke a six-match winless streak and shut out Pacific (3-10-2, 3-6-2) for the second time this season, following a 2-0 win at home in September.
Pajimola netted her team-leading third goal of the season when she redirected a low cross from Hannah Bokma.
The sequence began with a corner kick from Jennifer Loehner in the left corner. After the ball was crossed into the box it was deflected toward the end line. Bokma ran down the ball just before it went over the line on the right side of the box and sent a cross to Pajimola for a close-range finish at the near post.
The Boxers held an edge in offensive chances with 13 shots, including five shots on goal. The Pirates fired only four shots in the match but put three of those shots on target.
Pacific also held the edge with seven corner kick chances compared with four by the Pirates.
Andrea Stump collected five saves in recording her fifth shutout of the season. Kailey Hifumi made two saves for Pacific.
The Pirates' win marked the fifth shutout victory of the season. All but one win for Whitworth in 2015 have come by way of a shutout defensive effort.
Whitworth hosts Linfield and Willamette next weekend at the Whitworth Soccer Field. The Pirates take on Linfield at noon on Saturday before battling Willamette at noon on Sunday.
