Thompson put the Pioneers ahead in the 22nd minute when she headed home a corner kick sent in from the left side of the field by Megan Ratfield. The scoring play was the first of three assists on the afternoon for Ratfield.

Thompson doubled the Pioneers' lead with an unassisted goal in the 25th minute and redirected a cross by Ratfield from the right corner during the 33rd minute to net the hat trick.
