Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Whitworth came away with a 1-1 draw at Lewis & Clark College in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Saturday morning.
The Pirates are now 4-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NWC while the Pioneers are 4-1-1, 1-0-1.
Tiara Pajimola gave Whitworth a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute with her fifth goal of the season. It was unassisted from just outside the penalty area.
Anna Thorndike tied the match for L&C less than two minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal of her own.
Andrea Stump made 12 saves in goal for the Pirates over the course of 110 minutes played.
L&C outshot Whitworth 24-13, but it was the Bucs who had a 3-2 edge in shots during the extra period.
"It was a good performance today against a tough opponent," said Whitworth head coach Jael Hagerott. "We had opportunities that unfortunately we were not able to put away. At the same time, we were able to withstand several LC corners and free kicks in the second half to come away with the tie."
The Pirates continue their trip to Oregon with a match at Willamette on Sunday at noon.
