Puget Sound Shuts Out Whit Women 3-0

Box Score

SPOKANE, Wash. – Puget Sound's run at another Northwest Conference title in women's soccer is still alive after the Loggers won 3-0 at Whitworth on Saturday to pull closer to first-place Linfield in the league standings.

Puget Sound, aiming for a 12th straight NWC championship in women's soccer, improved to 8-2-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the NWC with its sixth consecutive victory.  The short-handed Pirates dropped to 6-6-2, 3-5-2.

Whitworth competed hard against UPS despite playing with only 14 available players due to injury and illness.  But the Loggers' depth led to a 19-4 advantage in total shots, 6-2 in shots on-goal.

Kylie Beeson got Puget Sound on the board early in the 13th minute, scoring on an assist from Jordyn McLuen.

Haley Rosenberg made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors less than a minute before halftime.  She lofted a long shot into the upper corner of the net for her first goal of the season.

Kylie Beeson tallied the match-clincher for UPS in the 80th minute.  She slid her third goal of the season into the upper-right corner of the net.

Andrea Stump made three saves for Whitworth while Lauren Thomas made two saves for the Loggers.

Whitworth will host Pacific Lutheran on Sunday while Puget Sound plays at Whitman.
