Whitworth Nips Pacific 1-0 in Overtime

Box Score

SPOKANE, Wash. – Hannah Bokma's header lifted Whitworth to a 1-0 win over visiting Pacific University in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates improved to 8-5-2 overall and 8-1-2 (26 points) in the NWC, remaining tied with Linfield and one point ahead of Puget Sound after both schools won today.

Whitworth controlled play throughout the match, but could not find the net until Bokma headed in a corner kick by Carly Schilperoort in the 98th minute.  It was Bokma's second match-winning goal in as many weeks and her second of the season overall.

Pacific goalkeeper Brittany Hartmann made six saves to keep her team in the match as the Boxers were outshot 15-5 overall and 7-2 in attempts on goal.

Andrea Stump made two saves for Whitworth to post her seventh clean sheet of the season.

Pacific (5-7-3, 3-7-1) will head to Walla Walla for a match at Whitman on Sunday.

The Pirates will host George Fox on Sunday, while fellow NWC contenders Linfield and UPS play each other in McMinnville, Oregon.
