Aggressive Play Gives Whitworth Women NWC Win

Box Score

NEWBERG, Ore. - On a cool Sunday afternoon the Whitworth Women's soccer team (1-3-1, 1-1-1) put together a strong offensive attack to beat the host Bruins (1-4-2, 1-2-0) in NWC play.

Mackenzie Grow (Jr., MF, Spokane, Wash.) found a loose ball twelve yards out on the right side and was able to deflect it into the net for the winning shot. The goal occurred in the 51st minute of play and is Grow's first on the year.

Whitworth's offense took on new energy in their second NWC match. The Pirates out-shot the Bruins 15 to 10 and were awarded with six more corner kicks.

Next weekend the Whitworth women play in front of a home crowd for the first time this season. They will battle NWC powerhouse Puget Sound on September 24th. Pacific Lutheran will then visit the Buc's home pitch on Sunday afternoon.
