Whit Women at Three Game Win Streak

TACOMA, Wash. - On Saturday afternoon the Whitworth women's soccer team (6-4-2, 6-2-2) blanked Pacific Lutheran University (3-8, 2-7) 2-0 in Tacoma, Washington.

The Pirates were unable to find the net in the first half but in the 50th minute Cory Druffel (Sr., MF, Pullman, Wash.) scored off of an assist by Jami Hegg (So., D, Spokane, Wash.). The goal was Druffel's second on the year.

At the 62 minute mark it was Mackenzie Grow (Jr., MF, Spokane, Wash.) who benefited from Druffel's offensive prowess when she received an assist from Druffel and connected to put the ball out of reach of PLU's goalkeeper. The match would end with with the scoreboard at 2-0, Whitworth.

Contrary to their last match when PLU was not able to record a shot the count was much closer at 14-12 in favor of the Bucs. Callie Bergstrom (Sr., GK, Spokane, Wash.) prevented the Lutes from scoring with three saves.

The Pirates will make a run at defending NWC champs, University of Puget Sound on their home pitch on Sunday afternoon. The contest will begin at noon.
