Marissa Mount earned All-America honors with a 38th place finish at the NCAA Division III National Championships Saturday morning, completing a trifecta of strong performances in Whitworth’s final three cross country meets of the year.
After racking up individual honors and two strong team finishes at the Northwest Conference Championships, the Whitworth Pirates travel to Walla Walla, Wash. this weekend for the NCAA Division III West Regional.
Marissa Mount was named the Northwest Conference’s women’s Runner of the Year and Ellie Shoop earned NWC Freshman of the Year honors as a result of their performances at the Northwest Conference Championships last week.
In a process that began with a record number of nominees this summer, the National Collegiate Athletics Association has named Whitworth University’s Kayla Leland as one of nine finalists for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award.
After strong performances from both cross country teams at the PLU invite, including a victory for the women’s team, the Whitworth Pirates are headed to Oregon to compete in the Charles Bowles Invitational.
