SHENANDOAH, Texas – Whitworth University sophomore Eben Schumann finished 28th in the preliminary heats of the 100-yard butterfly on Thursday morning at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the CISD Natatorium.

Schumann finished his race with a time of 49.69, just over one second faster than the entry mark of 48.68 he set at last month's Northwest Conference Championships.  The top 16 swimmers in each event advance to the evening heats.

Schumann will close out his participation in the championship meet on Saturday in the 100-yard freestyle.  He is the only Pirate competing at the NCAA meet this weekend.
