Whitworth Men Share Lead at Spring Classic

SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth has grabbed a share of first place with Pacific Lutheran after the first round of the Northwest Conference Spring Classic men's golf tournament on Saturday at Hangman Valley Golf Course.

Led by individual leaders Keegan Loo and Reilly Hegarty, the Pirates shot 299 and are tied for the lead with PLU.  The first day team scores are: Whitworth 299, PLU 299, George Fox 301, Linfield 313, Puget Sound 322, Willamette 322, Pacific (Ore.) 324, Whitman 330, Lewis & Clark 383.

Loo shot one-under 71 to lead the field after Saturday's round.  Hegarty shot 72 (E) to trail his teammate by a single stroke.  The two Pirates are the only players in the tournament at par or below.

Preston Roth (77) is tied for 14th, while Sam Stiles (79) is tied for 19thCaleb Belton (80) is tied for 23rd.

The final round will tee off at 9:00 am on Sunday.
