Whitworth Men Return at PLU Spring Invite

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The Whitworth University men's golf team returned to action this weekend at the Pacific Lutheran Spring Invitational at Oakbrook Golf Club.  The Pirates split into two teams and both squads tied for fourth place in the final standings.

Caleb Belton and JackRyan O'Neil, both playing for the Whitworth B team, finished in a tie for fifth place individually.  Belton finished 78-73, while O'Neil went 74-77, to post scores of 151. 

Host PLU also split into two teams and the Lute squads finished first and second.  PLU's Mitchell Baldridge was the individual medalist with a final score of 73-70 – 143 (+1).

The final team scores were: PLU 599, PLU B 604, Grays Harbor 623, Whitworth 625, Whitworth B, 625, Puget Sound 630, Pacific (Ore.) 645.

Reilly Hegarty (76-77) and Elijah Pittser (80-73) finished in a tie for eighth place with scores of 153 and both were on the primary Pirate squad. 

Coming up, Whitworth will compete at the Whitman Spring Fling this coming weekend at the Sunwillows Golf Course in Pasco, Washington.
