Bucs Take 2nd and 5th at Puget Sound Men's Invite

BREMERTON, Wash. – Whitworth University finished behind Pacific Lutheran University and just ahead of George Fox University to take second place over the weekend at the Puget Sound Men's Golf Invitational held at Gold Mountain Golf Club.

The final team scores were: PLU 297-295 – 592, Whitworth 304-309 – 613, George Fox 306-308 – 614, PLU "B" 329-295 – 624, Whitworth "B" 321-306 – 627, Puget Sound 318-315 – 633, Pacific (Ore.) 332-341 – 673.

Triston Hartfiel led the Pirates by tying for fifth place with two-day score of 77-76 – 153.  Mitchell Baldridge of PLU was the individual medalist with a score of 72-69 – 141 (-3).

JackRyan O'Neil was the next individual Pirate placer, tying for 11th place with a score of 80-75 – 155. 

Whitworth's official team was comprised of Hartfiel, Preston Roth (75-81 – 156, tie for 13th), Reilly Hegarty (76-81 – 157, tie for 15th), Sam Stiles (86-71 – 157, tie for 15th) , and Caleb Belton (76-82 – 158, 24th).

The Pirate "B" team also included Keegan Loo (79-78 – 157, tie for 15th), Elijah Pittser (82-75 – 157, tie for 15th), Ryan Brown (79-80 – 159, tie for 25th), and Tyson Odden (87-78 – 165, tie for 30th). 

There were 40 players in the field.

Whitworth is off until October 1-2 when the Pirates host their own tournament at the Kalispel Country Club.
