SPOKANE, Wash. – Christian Jurlina earned Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for his performances during the week of Dec. 5-11. Whitworth's streak is stretched to 15-straight weeks of having at least one NWC SAOW.
In a 1-1 week for the Pirates, Jurlina averaged 19.0 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. Against Whitman in a 79-65 road loss, Jurlina dropped 19 points and snagged eight rebounds. He followed that performance up with 20 points and nine rebounds against Covenant in a huge 93-62 win. At Whitman, he shot 50 percent (6-12) as well as perfect from behind the arc (2-2). Returning home to face Covenant, Jurlina finished 8-12 from the field (75%) in addition to adding one block, one assist, and one steal.

Jurlinan led Whitworth in scoring and rebounding, averaging 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as the 7th-ranked Pirates went 1-1. In a 79-65 loss to 4th-ranked Whitman, he scored 18 points with eight rebounds, then tallied 20 points with nine boards in a 93-62 non-conference win over Covenant. He finished the week shooting 58.3 percent from the field (14-24), including 3-5 on three-pointers, and 87.5 percent from the line (7-8). He also added two assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
