Whitworth Cheer Squad
The Whitworth Cheerleading Team is a co-ed member squad. We cheer for both home football and men and women's basketball games. Along with cheerleading, our program includes dancing, tumbling, and stunting. As a apart of this program we embody Whitworth's mission of providing an education of mind and heart.
Saturday, May 6 from 10am - 4pm
Sunday, May 7 from 9am - 1pm
A) All athletes must be enrolled and obtain a Whitworth credit for participation
B) Cheerleaders must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
C) Physical fitness, strength, and athletic skills to perform required skills.
2. Tryout Attire
A) Athletes should come dressed prepared to workout. Females should have hair pulled up or back.
B) Appropriate athletic/cheer shoes will be worn at all times.
C) All jewelry should be removed, including nose, ear or belly rings.
3. Selection Process
A) Selection of cheerleaders is based on the expertise of a panel of judges which includes the Head Cheerleading Coach. Notification of acceptance to the team will be posted after Final Tryouts.
4. Tryout Dates
Finalized dates are listed above.
If you are unable to attend tryouts a video submission will be accepted no later than Friday May 5th. The video will include the following:
2 stunting positions

5. Skill Requirements:
Cheer & dance (taught at tryouts)
3 jumps (toe touch required)
Provide 2 stunting positions (either back, flyer, or base)
Timed 1-mile run
Timed 1 min push up and sit ups
Provide 2 stunting positions
Timed 1- mile run
Timed 1 min push ups and sit ups
6. Team Requirements:
Weekly practices August through March.
Commitment to prescribed strength & conditioning program.
Perform at home Football and Men's and Women's Basketball games.
Special events sanctioned by the Athletic Department.

Whitworth University’s 2016-2017 Cheer Squad will be attending UCA’s College Spirit 3-Day Camp in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Camp dates are in August (set dates will be provided at tryouts), and all squad members are required to attend, NO exceptions.
Alyssa Crabtree graduated from Whitworth University in 2013 with a major in education and a minor in coaching. She was a squad member from 2008 through 2013 and served as an Assistant Coach during 2013-2014. She is AACCA Cheer Safety Certified. Alyssa was born and raised in Spokane and is excited and blessed to still be apart of the Whitworth athletic program.
