Mount, Nerud Named Whitworth / Subway Student-Athletes of the Month

SPOKANE, Wash. – Marissa Mount of track and field and Nicholas Nerud of baseball have been selected as the Whitworth / Subway student-athletes of the month for their performances in April.

Mount (Sr. – San Jose, Calif.) returned from injury to be the most valuable student-athlete for the Pirate women at the NWC Championships. The senior accumulated 29 points while running 19,500 meters over the course of the weekend. 

Nerud (Sr. – Valencia, Calif.) reached base in more than half of his plate appearances in April, leading the Pirates to a regular season Northwest Conference Championship. The senior hit .500 in April with an on-base percentage of .561. He also drove in 15 runs and stole 9 bases in 10 attempts.
